RUN FOR PEACE 2007

The above run was organised by the SOKA GAKKAI MALAYSIA,SELANGOR , a Buddhist culture association on 25th November, last sunday at Taman Klang Jaya.As the name suggested, this run was meant to promote peace to their members, friends and the Klang community. It was a non competitive run and no prizes or rewards were offered, hence it did not attract many serious runners, probably a handful turned up just to sweat it out because there wasn't any race on that particular morning.

Participants were greeted by members of SOKA GAKKAI chanting 'good morning' and 'welcome'
in Mandarin.A very pleasant way to start a morning run.

But the total turnouts for this event, i estimated more than 2 thousand, where SOKA members comprised more than 80%.This shows that they are very disciplined and supportive towards the activities they organise.

Runners at the starting line, wearing same ocean-blue t-shirt,you will feel awkward if you wear other than this round collar shirt.

The run was delayed because there were warm up session, followed by speeches by the association officials. It was flag off at around 8.00 am and the first to go was the men's category which was an 8 km run followed later by the women's,a 6 km.It was a hot and humid morning but most of the participants were enjoying the run.

Instead of medal or certificate, runners were given a piece of coloured sticker at the finishing line.

Surprisingly there were 2 water points for this short run and road markers were well placed. There were road marshals and officials at every corners, guiding and cheering the runners.
