The Gruelling Ride-Klang to Ipoh

I have just received this great news eventhough it took place a month ago.Few people are aware that besides running activities, the KPAC has a group of cyclists who is actively organising rides and also participate in top level cycling and ironman competitions.

On 17th of November, the eve of KRI road race, our heroes, spearheaded by our very own secretary,Mr Ong Teck Keong took the challenge to ride to Ipoh via the old trunk road from Klang town. The rest of the group are Yap Leong Chin,Yee Sing Seng,Hansome Quek,Gan Leng Leng,Ma Hong Choon,David Cheam and Chua Ah Boon.

The journey started near the Klang Parade shopping complex in Jalan Meru at about 7.45 am and they headed to Teluk Intan spiritedly.En route the ride they stopped at Sg Besar for a short break and also to refill their drinking bottles.I was told that the traffic's volume was low and the cloudy weather allowed our friends to enjoy their ride through the beautiful sceneries of coconut plantations, streams and also paddy fields.

At Teluk Intan, they stopped for a simple lunch and it was already noon, prompting them to resume their journey before another two short breaks for refilling again. The weather was kind to them all the way.The first few cyclists reached the destination at around 5.45 pm and the last was 6.30 pm.

They resided at the Heritage Hotel at Jalan Raja Dihilir and according to Mr Ong,the hotel management was very friendly, helpful and also kind to allow them to keep their racing bikes which can be dismantled, in the rooms.

The whole ride took them approximately 10 hours, covering a distance of 235 km.What a gruelling ride and definitely a back breaking one too.A big salute to the KPAC cyclists.

The next morning, one of them participated in the 12 km race and emerged 4th in the 'F' category. He is Mr Yee Sing Seng, completed the course in 52 min 43 seconds. It was an amazing feat by this 'ironman' and he made us very proud that day.

CHARITY WORK-THE KIND HEARTED RUNNERS

Below are pictures by courtesy of Mr Ng Thean Chor, our assistant treasurer.

The event took place several weeks ago (to be exact,on 11th of September) but l feel the KPAC activities must be made known to our readers. Our committee member,Mr Lim Swee Chai's employer, who wished to remain anonymous,is kind and generous enough to contribute lots of grocery to some orphanages and also to some needy one.

The KPAC was chosen to distribute the foodstuff such as rice, cooking oil, biscuits, rice vermicelli, spices, instant noodles, dried foodstuff and lots more.

A number of volunteers help the distributing works by transporting the goodies to two unnamed orphanages which are located in Simpang Lima roundabout and Batu 3,Jalan Kapar,Klang and also the Good Samaritan Home in Southern Park, also in Klang vicinity.

The voluntary works was headed by our secretary,Mr Ong Teck Keong.

This picture was taken at the Batu3,Jalan Kapar orphanage.I'm sure it was a very touching moment for everyone to witness the less unfortunates, depending on contributions to make ends meet.

This orphanage is situated near the Simpang Lima roundabout. Most of the unfortunates are young children and they need our helps, not only materialistic but love and educations.

Just a simple conclusion, to KPAC members and fellow runners, running is maybe good for our heart but a kind one is always the most beautiful.
