Run For Harmony-Charity Run 17/05/2009

Approximately 600 participants took part in this morning charity run in Taman Pertanian Malaysia,Bukit Cahaya Seri Alam,Shah Alam.

The event was co organised by the Buddhist Light International Association (BLIA) and Klang Pacers Athletic Club (KPAC).

Besides the 8 km run,the 3 km fun walk attracted many young participants from various Buddhist associations from as far as Johor.

Our president, secretary Mr Ong Teck Keong, treasurer Jimmy Yang and his deputy,Mr Ng Thean Chor and commitee member Mr Lum Kiok Ming were there to supervise and monitor the event. Many KPAC members voluntarily helped in the water stations and placed themselves at junctions and corners to ensure the safety of all participants.

The run was flagged off at 7.30am.Eventhough it was just an 8 km run,the hilly terrain and undulating route proved too tough for many runners. The first few kilometre of the run already saw many walking ascendingly, gasping and panting.

There were only two categories in this event-the men and the women open and 30 medals were offered to each category.

Our members dominated the men category.Murali Nathan grabbed the first placing in the absence of many talented runners who were away at Lake Garden-NB15km.

In the women category,Seah Bee Lian who is recovering from a thigh injury came in second after a 3 months lay off.She was leading but due to lack of training saw her losing out at the final kilometre.

Congratulation for a well organised run except for the many long speeches (which were beyond your authority). My young godson and friends truly enjoyed the run despite the tough undulating terrain especially for a first time 7-year old on that 8km stretch.

Keep up the good work! See you at NB-Klang Pacer Half Marathon.

Jue:Thanks for your support and sorry for those 'inevitable' long speeches, they as the co organiser got their right to spread whatever messages that benefit to the association.Agree with you,Taman Pertanian,Bukit Cahaya is an ideal place for family outings...plan to organise any event there..?
